Opened on Thanksgiving Day in 1936 by Harry “Sugie” Sugarman, it was basically the place for Hollywood’s glitterati back in the ’30s and ’40s—think cocktails, gossip, and a lot of dramatic entrances.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe matchbook itself had a raised print detail across the chest of a wahine, and that little design choice clearly left an impression.
