#2814
This drinking vessel originates from the historic site of Deshima in Nagasaki, a small man-made island that played a pivotal role in Japan’s history. During the Edo period (1600–1869), Deshima served as the only point of contact between Japan and the Western world, with the Dutch establishing a trading post there in 1641 that operated until 1858. For over two centuries, it was Japan’s exclusive window to foreign trade and cultural exchange. In recognition of its historical significance, the Dejima Dutch Trading Post was designated a national historic site in 1922. The vessel is in excellent condition and measures approximately 4" high by 2.5" in diameter—a unique and meaningful piece for history enthusiasts or collectors alike.
