Masterfully constructed using traditional materials, this type of dynamic personal adornment was worn by high-ranking individuals and warriors during critical rites of passage, cultural festivals, and community celebrations to signify prestige, courage, and spiritual connection.

The headdress features a striking array of symbolic materials, highlighted by large, curved boar tusks that frame the center—a direct indicator of hunting prowess and wealth. Rows of cowrie shells, historically used as regional currency and status symbols, are intricately sewn across the structure. The dramatic crown rising from the top utilizes the dark, plume-like feathers of the native cassowary bird, a creature deeply revered in Melanesian mythology. His credibility in the field remains unmatched: following Papua New Guinea's independence in 1975, the PNG National Cultural Council appointed him to manage Village Arts, their government-run indigenous artifact center.
